Since opening its doors in 1975, Griffith University has become a large, multi-campus university offering more than 300 degrees.

2011 Griffith is the only Australian university to receive 5-star ratings for both its MBA and International MBA programs from the Graduate Management Association of Australia (GMAA).

2011 Griffith placed in the top 5% of global universities by the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).

2012Griffith is undergoing a $320 million capital investment into upgrading facilities across its 5 campuses.

2013The new $1.76 billion State Government funded Gold Coast University Hospital is under construction adjacent to Griffith’s Gold Coast campus, due for completion early 2013.

2014A $1.8 billion world class Rapid Transit Rail Project due for completion in 2014 will link the Gold Coast campus with the city’s CBD retail and restaurant hubs

Credentials, rankings and research

·Griffith was the first Australian university to offer undergraduate degree studies in Environmental Science, as well as International Business and Asian Studies.

·Griffith is a top 10 Australian research university, according to the latest analysis of the Excellence in Research for Australia National Report 2010* (ERA) results. Griffith's research is world-standard or better in 45 fields of research* with 90 percent of our academic staff working in these fields (*Based on fields of research at the 4-digit level in the Excellence in Research for Australia 2010 National Report).

·In addition, the prestigious 2010 Nature Publishing Index for Asia-Pacific now ranks Griffith 7th in Australia, and 30th in the Asia Pacific (ranked according to the number of primary research articles they publish in the Nature family of journals in a one-year period).

·In 2011, Griffith was placed in the top eight among Australian universities for social sciences research in the QS World University Rankings. Griffith is also ranked 323 in the QS World University Rankings 2010, placing it in the top three per cent of the World's universities and is a large, fully comprehensive university with high research activity.

·Griffith University has appeared in 2011 for the first time in the world's most prestigious university rankings, the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) - known as the Shanghai Jiao Tong Top 500.

·Griffith University won five awards at the 2010 Queensland Education and Training International (QETI) Awards for Excellence including: Excellence in Outward Mobility 2010; Best Practice in International Collaboration 2010 (Higher Education); Outstanding International Student Support 2010 (Higher Education); International Alumnus of the Year 2010 (Higher Education); and Queensland Student Ambassador of the Year 2010. In addition, Griffith won the Premier of Queensland's Export Awards in 2010(for the third consecutive year) - for outstanding innovation and export achievement in the field of education and training services, expertise and curriculum.

·The University also received 11 commendations from the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) audit conducted in 2008. AUQA is the principal national quality assurance agency in higher education.
